Easy and Delicious DIY Apple Spice Syrup!
Hello, All!
This holiday season is flying by way too fast and I'm just trying to soak up all the sweet moments while I can. Speaking of sweet... I have a new delicious holiday DIY I am so excited to share with you all... Apple Spice Syrup!
My sweet one-year-old LOVES apples, so this one is inspired by her. She even taste-tested this recipe for quality control and approved it! See picture below.
***P.S. Try our other homemade syrups: Cardamom, lavender, elderberry, rose, & vanilla bean.
Not only is this recipe so easy to make but it's herb-packed and so festive. It's like an explosion of your favorite Christmas flavors. I love using this Apple Spice Syrup in my coffee, but there's more than one way to use it. Use it in your favorite teas and lattes and as a flavor booster for your holiday baked goods. I plan on making some homemade sourdough cinnamon rolls and incorporating this syrup into the sweet glaze topping. Oh, I can taste it now... Apple Spice Cinnamon rolls *drools*.
Now that I've made us all hungry, let's learn how to make this syrup.
Ingredients:
-1 cup apple juice
-1 cup sugar
-1 1/2 tsp. allspice
-1/2 tsp. cardamom
-1/2 tsp. cinnamon powder
-1/2 tsp. clove
-1/2 tsp. coriander
Directions:
-Add apple juice and sugar to saucepan
-Let sugar completely dissolve
-Add spices and let simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened
-Let sauce cool and pour into an airtight jar
What's great about custom homemade syrup is you can always add more if you would like. I probably add a bit more than what is listed in this recipe, but I love BOLD flavors in my syrups. However, some people might not want as much spice. So start with this amount and adjust accordingly to your desired spice strength.
This syrup should last refrigerated anywhere between two weeks to a month. Make sure your vessel is airtight and clean for best storage.
I hope you enjoy this winter recipe and find tasty ways to incorporate it into your holiday cooking this year.
